Read up lớn ch. 42 ch. 61 “Value as a woman? What value as a woman? Young and…beautiful? No matter how great my work is, no matter how much passion I have & what kind of life that I lead, none of that matters…Because I am a woman. Does that mean I’m only valued based on my age và my appearance?…Now I am nothing. I cant vày anything. Then, what am I? Just a beautiful woman? Then? If I lost my beauty, then?...Indeed, women must be beautiful. Getting born with a beautiful face guarantees a comfortable life. People say that becoming a beautiful girl is lượt thích winning three gold medals at once. NO. My beauty is not my ability. It is… Just something that I have because this world wanted beautiful women. Beautiful, và still. Am I now just a flower that sits still? và can I wait to lớn rot as time passes on? Don"t… Dont…treat me as you please. This is my body. My body. I AM NOT A FLOWER ON DISPLAY”That was some powerful stuff in there.

Themes:➨ Korean"s obsession with "beauty" và plastic surgery➨ Sexual abuse (lightly touched)➨ Lookism và sexism➨ Bullying (lightly touched)➨ Inner beauty & self awarenessWhat is it about & why the story feels so real:For all of those who don"t know, let me introduce you the ugly face of South Korea: The obsession with Western ideals of beauty & women looking forever flawless. This has to bởi vì with the East Asian culture in general, rather than just Korea but Korea has indeed taken an extreme side of it. Rest of the world is obsessed with their looks too but Koreans are probably the worst because they seek very particular looks in general và having a plastic surgery is a common procedure. Majority of the girls who can effort get the double eyelid surgery (for bigger eyes), nose surgery (for the pointy nose) và chin surgery (for narrow chin). Koreans also strongly think that girls need to lớn be somewhat skinny. In fact, people usually think that any girl over 50 kg (110 pounds) is fat. That"s why Korean girls naturally care about plastic surgery, makeup and losing weight. These are socially and strongly encouraged và someties even forced by the society.Even though I love Korea và Korean people & this is the only thing I don’t lượt thích and understand about this culture. Surgeries, the ridiculous amount of spending on beauty products, the amount of beauty shops. All the same looking girls with one beauty ideal. Seriously, why?*sigh*Probably because beautiful people have better opportunities in life than ugly people. Probably because beautiful people are seen as more honest, kind, etc. Probably because beautiful people have power. But what most people forget is that power also can be a "curse".This story is about a girl who felt so inferior about her looks & felt so pressured by the society to be prettier she had plastic surgery. But even though she DID became prettier, since a lot of her face was "fixed" people around her started to gọi her Gangnam beauty. People also started to lớn mistook her shyness for being sly so she had many many problems. She didn"t know how to say no, she didn"t know how khổng lồ interact with people, she didn"t even felt "beautiful" even though many people called her one. Because even though she changed on the outside, inside she was still that girl who felt inferior about her looks. Due khổng lồ this complex, the heroine found herself in complicated situations that could have been easily fixed if she just acted a bit smart or said no. But don"t worry, even though the heroine is really naive at the beginning of the story the male lead has her back & slowly she starts to change.The Characters:It"s amazing lớn see the way the heroine develops as a character. She starts as a really naive and obsessed girl but slowly learns that she, as well as other female characters, are not khổng lồ be judged solely on their looks because they are much more than an thắng lợi to be displayed. She, lượt thích many of the other characters in the story, are plagued by the societal beauty standards that pressure women into making life-changing decisions. Male lead sometimes can be a...tsundere? Hahaha but I love him. He has a connection with the MC from the start & cant help himself to save her from bad situations she finds herself in because she is too damn naive.The other characters are decently well-written as well. Some of them are genuinely unlikable (your cliche prettiest girl of the story aka Sooha) or forgettable but don"t worry they bởi vì not hinder the overall message of the story.The Problems:☹ The story moves too fast☹ ...and sometimes even unrealistically ☹ Why does every pretty girl in these mangas/webtooons a bitch? can"t there be a nice pretty woman? Everyone must have a brain smaller than shrimp to lớn not notice how giả that the pretty girl is... In real life, you"ll get your ass whooped for acting so sly.☹ The message is profound & is well worth the read but while it has an interesting premise, & it could have even some level of deepness, the issues (The concept of beauty, family problems) aren"t well drawn in my opinion; The Romance:Look at my new OTP;
